What to Expect During a Pet Wellness Exam at Fairy Tail Veterinary Clinic?
A pet wellness exam is more than a routine check-up. It is an opportunity for your veterinarian to evaluate your pet’s overall health, identify changes that may not yet be obvious at home, and help prevent future health problems.
Pets cannot always tell us when something feels wrong. Small changes in weight, appetite, drinking habits, activity level, behaviour, skin, coat or mobility can sometimes be early signs that something needs attention. Regular veterinary consultations allow us to monitor these changes over time and provide the right care for every stage of your pet’s life.
A Thorough Head-to-Tail Examination
During your pet’s consultation, our veterinarian will perform a physical examination based on your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle, medical history and any concerns you may have.
The examination may include checking:
- Weight and body condition
- Heart rate and breathing
- Eyes, ears and nose
- Teeth, gums and oral health
- Skin and coat condition
- Abdomen and internal organs
- Joints, muscles and mobility
- Lymph nodes and general physical condition
- Vaccination history
- Deworming, flea and tick prevention
We will also take the time to discuss anything you have noticed at home. Changes such as reduced appetite, excessive drinking, vomiting, changes in stool, itching, unusual behaviour or reduced activity can provide important information about your pet’s health.
Care Based on Your Pet’s Individual Needs
No two pets are exactly the same. A young kitten or puppy may need guidance on vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition and development, while an adult or senior pet may benefit from closer monitoring, blood testing or other preventive health checks.
If the examination identifies something that requires further investigation, our veterinarian will explain the findings clearly and discuss the appropriate next steps with you. Depending on your pet’s condition, this may include laboratory testing, X-rays, ultrasound or other diagnostic procedures.
Our goal is not only to treat illness when it happens, but to help you understand your pet’s health and make informed decisions that support a healthier, happier life together.
